I own a portable Holmes Mini Tower air purifier and it is the best air purifier I have ever used. It is inexpensive and great for removing household odors and dust. I don’t have pets or allergies but would bet it would work well for those who do. The Holmes air purifier is available on Amazon. It is compact and quiet and easy to carry from room to room. It has three speed settings for the air to purify. The air comes out from the front only, like a fan, but you can feel the air freshening as soon as you turn it on. The unit comes with its own removable and exchangeable filter, and the replacement filters are inexpensive. The unit has an ionize system that sends a charge in the air to grab airborne particles that will stick to the filter. The down side to that is if you use that setting a lot you can run the filter down. Holmes says the unit is recommended for rooms up to 110 square feet or 10 feet by 11 feet. I would say that is about right. I’ve moved it around and used it in the kitchen, bedroom, and living room and found it to be effective in each room. The purifier has a light that lets you know when the filter needs to be changed. When I first purchased it I found I needed to change the filter at regular intervals. But now I can’t remember the last time I changed it. Perhaps it was a break-in period, or maybe my home was just really dusty at the time I bought it. The purifier has a soft hum, so you don’t even notice it is on. You can eat, read, or watch television and you won’t be distracted. All in all, for the price it costs and the cheap filters, I recommend the Holmes Mini-Tower air purifier.
