Since the Northern Virginia area has a strong military population due to duty assignments and its large federal workforce, LIST WITH ELIZABETH® is proud to have one of the area’s most respected National Association of REALTORS certified Military Relocation Specialists as a part of our team.
Discovering Stephanie Seeley
Stephanie Seeley comes from a military family herself and knows all about the potential stresses — as well as the positive solutions — of military moves. This is what makes her such a strong resource expert in relocating and PCSing.
“Moving is hard. I moved almost every 2 years as a child. It was scary. It’s unknown. You have to find a new home, new friends, new school, new life,” said Stephanie, remembering the hardships and anxieties of fitting in and getting used to a new place. “I had no idea the struggles my parents had in finding a home and school for us to attend, and ensuring that they did the best they could for us kids. Learning new towns, commute times, traffic patterns, and jobs are a struggle for parents and kids getting used to the new structure.”
Now, she takes her hard-won experience and puts it to work for other families, because “it’s not just buying a home, it’s where you see yourself growing with your family.”
Stephanie is learning to grow roots. She has lived in Burke, Virginia with her husband and four boys for almost a decade; but that restless spirit from a childhood of military moves has manifested itself in her wide variety of interests — she holds an Associates Degree in Paramedicine and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration — and her ease with assimilating into new communities has made her a natural at connecting with people.
She’s been a Firefighter/Paramedic with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, as well as a personal fitness instructor, but Stephanie says that its in real estate where she has truly found her niche since she loves being out in the community, being involved, meeting people, and helping others to find their own special place as well.
“While I loved my job as a fire-medic at the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, real estate is where my life is now, and I love it. Real estate allows me to be a wife, mother, coach, teacher, trainer, and spend quality time with my family,” said Stephanie, though she admits the skills she learned as a medic are lifelong… and honestly make her an even better agent!
“I am prepared to react in an emergency and I don’t panic,” said Stephanie, who is cool under pressure, even when negotiating Springfield and Burke’s hot home bidding wars.
This may also be why it’s no surprise that preparing a home for sale is her favorite part of the selling process.
“I love getting the listing together, pictures, and getting the home ready to present,” Stephanie admits, though like most agents, she obviously also takes pride in getting offers and sharing the best ones with her clients. “I love the relationship that I develop with my clients and being part of the excitement of selling their home.”
The buying process, on the other hand, brings her back to her favorite aspects of those military moves from her youth. “I love the hunt and finding the perfect home,” she said. “I don’t care how many homes that my clients want to look at, it’s ‘their’ home. I thoroughly enjoy the emotional relationship that is developed with my clients and knowing they trust me that I will do my best for them and be available for them.”
LIST WITH ELIZABETH® is fortunate to have a team member with a background that is so unique and specialized, which, interestingly, is just how Stephanie describes the Northern Virginia housing market.
“There are so many places that have different things to offer to each individual either selling or buying a property,” Stephanie says. So whether your move is on behalf of the military — or not — she’s ready to help you with a ‘permanent change of station’ to Northern Virginia!
