Donut lovers rejoice! A regional favorite donut shop is opening in West Springfield called Duck Donuts. 

Duck Donuts originated in Duck, North Carolina where visitors fell in love with their freshly made vanilla cake donuts that customers could coat, top, and drizzle as they desired. The family company has expanded and has local outposts in nearby areas like Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax. But in 2022, West Springfield is getting its own small store next to the Whole Foods in the Keene Mill Shopping Center.

The company recently confirmed that a franchise store would open at 8404A Old Keene Mill Road, though additional details on the timing of the Grand Opening have not yet been made available.

The storefront that is to become a Duck Donuts and allow customers to customize their own sweets is quite small, just a little less than 800 square feet. It is currently occupied by Exquisite Jewelers. 

Because customers make each donut their own, there are endless combinations to the menu of Duck Donuts and it is sure to please patrons of all ages. (Gluten-free donuts are not currently available.)

Ninth Duck Donuts Opening in West Sprinfield

The West Springfield store will be Duck Donuts’ ninth in Greater Washington, all in Northern Virginia or suburban Maryland.

A nearby Arlington customer has called these “a life changing experience.”

“Best. Donuts. Ever. I don’t need to even say anything else other than try for yourself but they’re so delicious that I’ll provide some details for those who haven’t had the chance to experience these donuts. These things come out nice and hot, baked perfectly with just the right amount of fluffy and moist texture, the closest resemblance to a cake out of all donuts I’ve tried. I’m not sure how they do it, but nothing compares to it. Absolutely blown away. I highly recommend the Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Crumble, and Cookies & Cream flavors.”

And to match the hype, Duck Donuts claims to be the fastest-growing donut shop in the U.S.! 

Launched with a single shop in Duck, North Carolina, in 2007, there are now more than 100 Duck Donut stores in the U.S., and a few international franchises as well. The West Springfield store is part of the company’s plans to open  250 stores across 25 states.

West Springfield is excited to have Duck Donuts in the area because this company believes in giving back to the communities where it is located. Through its Quack Gives Back Program, every store has the opportunity to partner with local nonprofits, organizations, teams, or even individuals in the community for fundraising support and building awareness for their cause.
