While buyers wish for pools more than ever — a pool was the 2021 buyer’s new “essential” — not all homeowners in the Burke area can actually have one for a variety of reasons. So what can you do? Join one of the Burke Centre Conservancy’s pools! And did you know, these pools have memberships available even to those who aren’t residents, so your friends from nearby communities can join, too!
What Is Burke Centre?
Burke Centre Conservancy, in Fairfax, Virginia, is a large 1700-acre planned residential community that includes 5,862 homes managed by the Burke Centre Conservancy Homeowners’ Association. Among its many features, the community has five pools — Commons, Landings, Oaks, Ponds, and Woods — that are accessible to members and their guests (with guest passes).
Burke Centre Conservancy opened its five pools to members for the 2021 season on Memorial Day weekend, but there is still plenty of time to dive into a membership and take advantage of the pool amenities, which are more popular than ever right now.
Family, single, and senior memberships are available in the Burke Centre resident and non-resident categories. While a membership application can’t be amended to add members during the season, Burke Centre Conservancy also offers guest passes for daily and multiple (10-visit) guests to accompany season pool membership.
What Pools Can I Join?
Here is the location and contact information for each of the five Burke Centre Conservancy Pools:
- Commons: 5701 Roberts Parkway, 703-239-8596
- Landings: 6001 Cove Landing Road, 703-250-4359
- Oaks: 5708 Oak Leather Drive, 703-239-2153
- Ponds: 9837 Burke Pond Lane, 703-250-0003
- Woods: 10100 Wards Grove Circle, 703-239-2048
This year, the Conservancy is excited about its brand new, automated membership system that is set to make joining the pools faster and more convenient for all pool members.
This year will also see some use and capacity limitations that will apply throughout the duration of the Virginia Governor’s order for the pandemic.
What Are Some Changes?
In a normal season, pool membership includes access to all of the five conveniently located pools, seven days a week, with hours ranging from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. This year, pool rules have been adapted to account for the COVID-19 pandemic. Pools are generally open, though each has its own hours of availability. Specific hours are subject to change and will be determined and posted before each week, so members will want to check the website before making a plan to swim.
While some pool rules have been adapted to account for the recent health emergency, pools are open for free swim with 10 feet of physical distancing and are subject to capacity limits. For this season, Commons will have a maximum facility capacity of 338, Landings of 230, Oaks of 231, Ponds of 187, and Woods of 230.
Additionally, face coverings should be worn in buildings but may be removed on the pool deck with physical distancing. Further pool rules can be viewed on the Burke Centre website.
Regardless of the date purchased, Burke Centre Conservancy Pool memberships are valid from that date until pools close on Labor Day, September 6, 2021.
Happy swimming!
