All aboard! The Burke Lake Park ice cream parlor has reopened just in time for summer — and it reopens with a renovation, showcasing a fun new train theme. This is exciting because everybody loves ice cream… and trains are totally cool, too! You can have it all when you head to Burke Lake Park now with the ice cream parlor open and plenty of other things to do.

Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor Location

Located near the train station, mini-golf course, and playground within Burke Lake Park, families with young children will especially love cooling down and relaxing at this refreshed fun spot in the Fairfax County Park Authority recreation area. It is well-positioned for visitors to cool down in the afternoon after some active park experiences and now offers an extended menu that has something for just about anyone.

Since Burke Lake Park’s nearby miniature train has long been such a popular attraction, the Park Authority chose to reopen the ice cream parlor with a playful locomotion theme. The train motif runs through the space. Some of the on-sight train imaginings can be found on the menu board, in novelty railroad crossing signs, on window decals, and via the ice cream parlor’s train-station style clock.

In addition to all of the train decor, a small working train travels along the ceiling, running above customers’ heads. Anyone who loves trains — and children in particular — will love watching the miniature train as they enjoy a special afternoon treat. The chug-along train adds a bit of marvel to the ice cream parlor’s menu! 

In addition to the eight flavors of Hershey’s Ice Cream available, tasters will also find some new items on the menu at the Burke Lake Park ice cream parlor. So while you’re craving your scoops and cones, also check out the newly available chocolate and caramel ice cream sundaes or grab a cup of coffee, a milkshake, a root beer float, slushie, soda, or juice. Food items are also available, including all-beef hot dogs — and rumor has it pizza is coming!

Enjoy Nature & More!

Burke Lake Park is an excellent place for guests to visit to enjoy nature as well as to ride the carousel as it spins around or to watch the park’s famed miniature train chug along. The ice cream parlor has also long been a favorite stop. Now the parlor is all new with fresh flooring and paint, updated sanitation (like a countertop sneeze guard), and new decor in a fun locomotion theme to complete the look. The parlor even has all new tables, chairs, and even trash cans.

Don’t forget that the Burke Lake Park ice cream parlor can be reserved for parties like children’s birthday celebrations and milestones to commemorate other occasions. It’s a great place to have your next event, no matter what it is. They will be that much more memorable with the parlor’s new miniature train on track and in action. 

The Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor is now open on weekends only in April, May, September, and October from 11 am to 6 pm and daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekdays 11:30 am to 4 pm and weekends 11 am to 6 pm.
