A community found in Fairfax County, Newington Forest is actually a census-designated place with a population of more than 12,000 residents. It’s known as a part of the Washington metro area. The census-designated place includes the Newington Forest subdivision and many other neighborhoods found in the southern section of Springfield.

This subdivision offers a popular place to call home with a great location and plenty of amenities throughout. It has a community association called the Newington Forest Community Association. Whether you’re relocating to Virginia for work or going through a military relocation, this might be the right community for you.

Real Estate in Newington Forest

There are many different types of homes found throughout Newington Forest with different styles. You can find a single-family home for sale or a townhome in this neighborhood. With more than 1,800 total homes, it’s a rather large community.

A total of 791 single-family homes and 1,017 townhomes are located in Newington Forest. It’s home to split-level homes, colonials, and split foyers. Homes range from about 900 to 3,000 square feet in size with up to five bedrooms.

Most of the homes were built in the 1970s and have been updated since. Townhomes can have up to three levels and there are some completely furnished properties, too.

The Location

Found in the southern section of Springfield, Newington Forest is just north of the Laurel Hill Golf Club and just south of the Pohick Creek Stream Valley Park. It’s to the west of the Fort Belvoir North Area and found not far from Fairfax County Parkway.

The location of this neighborhood is very close to West Springfield, Fairfax Station, and Lorton. It’s about 22 miles from Washington D.C.

The location makes it very easy for commuters to get to work, too. With connector bus stops found throughout Newington Forest, residents can easily access the Franconia-Springfield metro area.

There are also HOV lanes found on Fairfax County Parkway allowing you to easily get to Washington DC, the Pentagon, and Quantico. Fort Belvoir and the NGA campus are also very easy to commute to, making this a great neighborhood for commuters.

Newington Forest Amenities

The Newington Forest Community Association takes care of the many amenities. There are plenty of things to do for residents located right inside the community including the Newington Forest pool. The pool provides a wading pool for younger children, a diving board, a slide, and even a basketball hoop. There are even grills in the pool area.

Along with the Newington Forest pool, there is a ball field, three basketball courts, a community center, tennis courts, and trails throughout the community.

Things to Do Near Newington Forest

The South Run Rec Center is found nearby and it was renovated not too long ago. It provides plenty of athletic fields and trails that take you to the Burke Lake Park. The facility also offers a large fitness center.

Residents can also find plenty of golf nearby with the Pohick Bay Golf Course, Laurel Hill Golf Club, and Springfield Golf & Country Club all just a short drive away.

If you want adventure, the Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park is found nearby. There are many other things to enjoy throughout the area, too. Of course, it’s also easy to enjoy Old Town Alexandria, Washington DC, and many other popular areas from Newington Forest.
